Davy Crockett Surrendered?! Jim Bowie, a Slave Trader?! Sam Houston, a Coke Addict?!

In the early 1980s, revisionists were shrouded in searing denunciations - from the right, but also from the left. A case in point was Seguín from 1982 by Chicano director Jesús Treviño, a public service biopic about Juan Seguín. "I was interested in telling the Chicano side of American history that both John Wayne and American textbooks ignored," said Treviño. "In Wayne's version, Mexicans are portrayed either as bandidos, dancing senoritas, sleeping drunks or fiery seductresses." Meanwhile, on the left, Acuña, who acted as the film's advisor, actually resigned because of Seguín's portrayal, calling him a traitor to Mexican Americans, and comparing his alliance with the Texans to that of the French Vichy government with the Nazis. Then came the big bang of Alamo revisionism. Released in 1990, the well-researched Duel of Eagles by Jeff Long was a screaming banzai indictment against everything John Wayne cared about. The tone was haunting and almost ...

Strategies to get employees vaccinated

Image
Education and incentives aren't the only approaches employers take. The COVID-19 vaccines are finally available, and infection and death rates are falling. But despite the good news, not all is rosy: vaccination rates are falling, and many Americans are still reluctant to get the vaccine. Health officials warn that without further assistance, herd immunity will not occur and COVID-19 infection will continue. Since the introduction of vaccines, employers have been seen as critical in encouraging employees to get vaccinated. Now, perhaps, their role is more important than ever. “Anything employers can do to encourage their employees to get the vaccine - or at least consider the vaccine and do more research before immediately saying 'no' - is going to be incredible for not only the bottom line of the company be beneficial, but most importantly save countless live...

Image
FinanceFeeds Editor-in-Chief Nikolai met with Roberto d'Ambrosio, CEO and Chief Risk Officer of Axiory Markets to learn more about how they manage risk at their brokerage and what their plans are for their 10th anniversary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxVBPy2nP6E The conversation began with a discussion about the Middle East market, which Roberto found rather conservative. He thought the traders there were quite risk averse and needed to be very sure what they were getting into before putting their money and time in. They are picky about their partners and take great care to keep their funds safe. Personalized experience is key for Middle Eastern traders Another exciting aspect of the market that Roberto shared was the need for a personalized experience for the traders and for the broker, the need to be humble and educated about this market. Roberto believed that those brokers who want to do well need to learn to take a "bottom-up" approach and instead of trying t...

Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) - Facebook Options Traders Forecast Blue Skies Ahead

Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) traded higher on Friday in an attempt to break the bulls from a daily bull flag. The bull flag, with the pole being raised between May 19 and May 27 and the flag between May 28 and Friday (June 4), could propel Facebook to a new all-time high if the pattern is recognized by trading algorithms and institutions becomes. A number of options traders believe Facebook will see new highs in the coming weeks and months, with one trader believing a move towards the $ 350 mark is possible. Together, these traders are betting over $ 2.12 million. Facebook will be a blue sky. Why it matters: When a sweep order occurs, it indicates that the trader wanted to enter a position quickly and is expecting a large movement in the stock price to come. A sweeper pays the market price for the call option instead of placing a bid which searches the order books of multiple exchanges to immediately execute the order. Why It's Unfair and Not Useful to Rank Montana Colleges [Opinion]

Image
You could say Billings is having a tough week. First, Billings is called the ugly town in this guy's opinion. Then Montana State University-Billings (MSUB) was named the Worst College For Your Money in Montana by Moneywise. It's pretty easy to criticize Billings and our city is constantly making cheap footage, but the Moneywise report really disappointed me. I am a former part-time faculty member at MSUB and I really enjoyed my time there. I would like to believe I have some insight into the problems identified with the school. While this is not scientific, it is based on my observations of the student body while teaching at the school for five years. The MSUB has a low graduation rate as it has a high non-traditional student rate. If you had three part-time jobs, two kids, and a full-time school, what would the likelihood be that you would have graduated from college? I speak for myself - I couldn't. At one point in my career, I fully embraced the gig economy and ha...

TikTok Slaps its Way Toward Crypto Influence Supremacy

Image
Crypto influencers and companies are giving their POVs on the FinTok phenomenon and its impact on retail investments. Where do people find out about cryptocurrencies? The knee-jerk answer to this question may say more about who you're asking than the dynamic reality of social media. If you've been a cryptocurrency supporter since Bitcoin's debut, you can still check out mailing lists where Bitcoin's whitepaper was originally introduced. Depending on how and when you got into the crypto world, you can rightly point out the influence of Telegram, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram or Twitter (where reporters like to gather). However, a recent report by CryptoHead named a new top crypto influencer. The report determines influence by adding the total audience of everyone from the top 100 influencer lists - and the new biggest influencer is BitBoy, who is ranked ahead of Justin Sun and Vitalik Buterin in terms of total reach. (Note: Ratings are for crypto influencers only - s...
