2021 Tradovate Review • Pros, Cons + More • Benzinga

With such a wide range of options available, choosing a futures trading platform can be tricky. Tradovate is an innovative futures broker offering proprietary desktop and mobile trading platforms. Our Tradovate review will help you learn more about the pros and cons of opening an account.

Tradovate is a specialized broker that provides users with access to the futures trading market. Unlike some brokers who require traders to fund the purchase of their own trading platform, Tradovate offers its own proprietary platform - and it's surprisingly comprehensive and powerful. Some of our favorite features on the Tradovate platform are the following:

  • Depth of Market (DOM): If you have a trading strategy that relies on quickly executed, frequent trades, you will appreciate Tradovate's DOM feature, which allows you to quickly analyze price information, manage your positions and place orders at increased speed.
  • Cross-platform charting: Not only can you use the Tradovate platform to create custom charts - you can also save these charts and access them across platforms, including PC and Mac. For example, if you create a custom chart on your desktop, you can access it from your mobile account. This can be an especially useful feature if you typically switch between multiple platforms when investing and trading.
  • Cloud-based order management: Tradovate's cloud-based order management system keeps the orders on the exchange securely on your server - never directly on your device. This gives you faster order management and a higher level of security for your trades.
  • Simulated trading accounts: Paper trading accounts allow you to practice your trading and investment strategies without risking your own money. This can help you assess how your unique trading strategy will perform in real market conditions.
  • Demo account: Still not sure if the Tradovate platform is right for you? Tradovate offers all users access to two-week free trials with no obligation to open and deposit an account after the trial period has expired. This way you can test Tradovate's tools and compare the platform directly with your current platform.

In addition to a comprehensive platform, the Tradovate website also lets you explore a range of technical tutorials and educational tools. For example, you can use the broker's community feature to connect with other futures investors and trading opportunities, strategies and ideas. This kind of unique involvement can help improve your trading and help you get the most out of Tradovate's platform and tools.

Tradovate offers 3 tier pricing strategies that allow you to customize your account based on the number of trades you have placed and your individual needs as an investor. Tradovate's 3 plan options balance the monthly fees with the commissions per trade. Find out the pricing for each account type below.

Active dealer plan$ 99$ 0.19 per side standard and mics, $ 0.15 smalls

There is no minimum capital required to open an account with Tradovate. Unlike some competing futures platforms, you don't pay a monthly fee to simply access the Tradovate platform and use the full suite of tools and applications.

Investors who need access to mobile trading can synchronize their Tradovate account with the company's own Tradovate Pulse app. Tradovate Pulse uses a number of additional features not found on the browser-based platform to make mobile trading easier, including:

  • Increased speeds: Tradovate's mobile app is based on the new Flutter user interface from Google. This allows you to execute trades faster when trading on mobile devices.
  • Optimized user interface: The Tradovate mobile trading platform has been streamlined and simplified compared to the desktop platform. The broker is also continuously working to make information more readily available on mobile devices and avoiding as many unnecessary taps and swipes as possible.

The Tradovate team is working to make mobile futures trading easier by optimizing their Pulse app.

  • Intelligent assistant messaging function: The Tradovate Pulse app includes a built-in smart messaging system that has an assistant to provide you with vital information about the assets you trade most often. You can access these messages with a single tap at the bottom of your app.

Tradovate Pulse is currently available as a free download to both Apple and Android users. Downloadable desktop applications are also available.

Although Tradovate has a wide range of features and tools to help you improve your trading, we found the layout a bit cluttered and bulky. Finding tools was difficult when using the desktop demo account, which can be a significant disadvantage if you are a new futures investor whose trading strategy relies on a series of quickly executed trades. While other brokers allow users to link a well-known platform (like MetaTrader), Tradovate only uses a proprietary offering. This means you may need to be prepared for a learning curve when starting out with Tradovate.

We recommend trying a Tradovate demo account before deciding whether the broker's proprietary platform is the best choice for you.

This does not mean that you should fire Tradovate for lack of trading experience. We recommend checking out the broker's free demo platform before making a decision. Even if you have experience in the futures market, we recommend that you get used to the layout of the platform with demo trading features before placing a real trade.

The following types of investors may be more likely to benefit from an enhanced trading experience through Tradovate:

  • Experienced futures traders: If you are more experienced in trading the futures market and are looking for a comprehensive platform full of tools, Tradovate can be an attractive candidate.
  • Traders who switch between mobile and desktop or web trading: Tradovate's cloud-based software makes it easy to optimize setups and preferences on mobile and web-based platforms. In addition, the broker is working to make its Tradovate Pulse mobile app as efficient as possible.
  • Futures traders who want to connect with a community: Tradovate's community app enables users to share thoughts, strategies and trading ideas with other users. This can be an especially helpful feature for new investors or those who enjoy social trading.

With a comprehensive platform and a variety of pricing plans, Tradovate is a great choice for seasoned futures traders. In particular, we like the fact that the broker is offering trial accounts for new users who want to investigate the platform before opening an account or submitting their personal information. Equally impressive is Tradovate's customer service team with a range of responsive options. While Tradovate's proprietary platform for new futures trades could be overwhelming, advanced and seasoned investors are likely to find a lot to love with Tradovate.

Tradovate against competitors

Tradovate offers some unique features that set it apart from competing futures brokers.

  • Free trading platform: While many futures brokers require investors to import their own third-party platform, Tradovate offers a proprietary, royalty-free platform with a variety of tools and features.
  • Community trade: Tradovate's community area enables you to connect with other futures traders, improve your education and gain unique perspectives in the market.
  • Tiered price plans: The most favorable commission plan for you depends on your trading volume. Tradovate offers 3 pricing tiers so you can customize your payment plan and control costs.
