USDA dairy guidelines not tolerable: Lawsuit

The three-day dairy allowance recently recommended by the USDA, causing digestive discomfort in about a quarter of Americans with lactose intolerance, is the basis of a lawsuit filed Wednesday against the USDA in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by three doctors, which all ask the question: why so much milk when so many cannot have it? As reported in the Washington Post, the lawsuit contradicts current scientific and medical evidence and harms Americans with lactose intolerance to the three-a-day standard for dairy products. The lawsuit suggests that the USDA is paying more attention to the interests of the meat and dairy industries than to the health of Americans.
