Suez ship owner asks freight owners to split damages
The owner of a container ship that has blocked the Suez Canal for almost a week is asking the owners of the cargo that the ship is carrying to pay for the damage requested by the Egyptian authorities. The container ship Ever Given, owned by Japan-based Shoei Kisen Kaisha, ran aground in the canal in March, blocking the canal and stopping billion-dollar trade.
