Frost & Sullivan Analyzes Hypersonic Technology Development in the United States
For more information on this analysis, speed, accuracy and maneuverability of hypersonic weapons will fundamentally change the nature of warfare, please visit: http://frost.ly/5rw
“The increased speed of hypersonic boost glide weapons will destroy current radar capabilities for early detection. As hypersonic missiles and airplanes become more common, defense against them must remain a priority, "said John Hernandez, Senior Aerospace and Defense Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "In line with this goal, DoD funding for hypersonic technology is expected to remain stable."
Hernandez added, "Further examination of the various segmentations of hypersonic development in defense shows that most of the planned spending is for advanced development programs, followed by management support and basic / applied research."
Market participants should focus on the following in order to open up lucrative growth prospects:
- Acquisitions, Mergers, and Partnerships: Evaluate existing design reviews and prototypes to develop strategies to identify potential partners, acquisitions, or mergers to meet demand once actual production begins.
- Hypersonic Defense: Provide a comprehensive solution that can counter a single or swarm of hypersonic missiles by effectively inerting them or repelling them completely.
- Detection and Tracking (DT): Companies with DT capabilities should consider partnering with satellite companies or entering into agreements that incorporate advanced sensors.
- Propulsion for hypersonic: Connectivity during hypersonic flight poses a further challenge for developers and opens up the possibility for communication companies to enter the market.
- Size, Weight, and Performance (SWaP): Traditional missile manufacturers need to immediately begin designing smaller systems that can be incorporated into various military aircraft and surface vessels.
The speed, accuracy, and maneuverability of hypersonic weapons will fundamentally change the nature of warfare - success in an unpredictable future.
