Trade the Equities Sweet Spot with Mid Caps, 'MIDU'
Leverage-hungry traders can position themselves between cap stability and small-cap momentum Direxion Daily Mid Cap Bull 3X-Shares (MIDU).
MIDU aims for daily investment results before fees and expenses of 300% of the daily performance of the S&P MidCap 400 Index. The Fund invests under normal circumstances at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in financial instruments such as swap agreements and securities in the index, ETFs that track the index and other financial instruments that provide daily leveraged exposure in the index or in ETFs that track the index.
The index measures the performance of 400 medium-sized companies in the USA. With the added leverage, MIDU has made huge profits, up 63% since the start of the year.
Even without leverage, the S&P 400 index, which is focused on mid caps, rose by 19%. Both domestic and international investors could be noted.
"Foreign investors are actively involved in US stock markets, but like their American counterparts, international investors tend to favor large caps," said a Nasdaq article. "That means they're missing out on opportunities with smaller stocks, including mid-caps."
"When investors ponder their exposure to the equity markets, they may find that large-cap equity positions are too large to grow quickly and small-caps are too susceptible to volatile short-term movements," the article added. "Mid-cap stocks, sometimes referred to as the sweet spot of the market, can help investors achieve improved risk-adjusted returns."
As for large and small cap options ...
Direxion also offers large and small cap leveraged options that traders can consider. For those looking to grapple with large caps, there is the Direxion Daily S & P 500® Bull 3X Equity ETF (SPXL).
Under normal circumstances, SPXL invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in financial instruments such as swap agreements and securities in the index, ETFs that track the index and other financial instruments that provide daily leveraged exposure in the index or in ETFs that map the index.

Traders basking in market volatility can opt for the movements of high beta small caps. The Direxion Daily Small Cap Bull 3X-Stock (TNA) Tracks the Russell 2000 Index and aims to provide daily investment results that are equal to 300% of the daily index performance.
